Words can hardly express the beauty of Venice. As we crossed the causeway, a rose tinted winter light filtered through the blue grey mist and all the shadow colours were subdued to a dark sepia tone - the colour scheme of a selenium toned lith print. I could do no other than convert all the pictures to it. Would that I had the skills to do it in the darkroom.
But there is colour in Venice too. Our visit coincided with the start of the Venice Festival. So here are some of the masks, half masks and fabulous costumes of the beautiful people of Venice.
